Neuquén ready for the RenovAr Programme

RenovAr Programme is the Public Tender Process for contracts to generate electrical power from wind farms. This process in led by the Agency for the Promotion of Investment (ADI–NQN SEP) in Neuquén.

Four bidders presented a total of eight proposals to the Call for Expressions of Interest carried out by the province of Neuquén to select private investors to constitute partnerships with ADINQN SEP, under law 19.550 for the development and exploitation of the wind farms owned by ADINQN - Picún Leufú, Cerro Senillosa and La Americana- and to participate in the national RenovAr programme.

These three wind farms, developed by the Agency and fully compliant with technical, legal and environmental certifications, will initially be presented in the public tender. The total installed power is 200 MW.
The government of Neuquén intends to select a strategic partner to participate in the National and International tender corresponding to the first stage of the RenovAr Programme launched by the Ministry of Energy and Mines scheduled to be finished in August and to be awarded in September.

Neuquén intends to contribute to achieve the goal stated in law 27.191, that is, an energy matrix made up of 8 % of Renewable Energy by 2018.

Portfolio of Pojects
There are other wind farm projects under development in ADI-NQN, at different stages of progress, with a total installed power of 375 MW. Also, Nahueve multipurpose project will soon be awarded to contribute to the development of the north of the province, summing up an installed power of 4 MW. Eighty five per cent of this project will be financed by a loan granted by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, (ADFD), an entity of the government of United Arab Emirates, under very favorable conditions. The remaining 15 per cent shall be provided by the province of Neuquén.

Los Guiones and Colomichicó multipurpose projects, located in the north of the province basin are under similar conditions. They will probably be included in the next call for tender made by the Energy Ministry as they are highly developed.

GIRSU Project (Urban Solid Waste Integral Management)

So as to solve the problem of the integral management of urban solid waste, Governor Omar Gutierrez recently announced that ADI-NQN together with other agencies, are working on a regional project for solid waste treatment and final disposal in the metropolitan area of Neuquén Capital.

To develop the GIRSU project, the government of the province has reserved a land area of 58 hectares for ADI-NQN in the municipal area of Centenario, halfway between the towns involved and with the necessary infrastructure required to develop this sort of projects.

At the same time, the agency is seeking for financing sources through the Ministry of Environment of the Nation, and private companies, which have already expressed interest in developing the project.
